Jailbreak 1.1.2 iPod touch / iPhone
I helped my friend to jailbreak his 1.1.2 iPod touch and it’s damn easy. I actually bricked it, but I manage to restore the firmware back. I bricked his iPod touch because I downgraded to the wrong firmware, I actually tried to install/downgrade iPhone’s 1.1.1 firmware on an iPod touch, it fails and I have to restore the machine again. Pretty cool, after restoring, it’s just like a new iPod touch.
It works like this for 1.1.2 iPod touch / iPhone to jailbreak.
- Downgrade to 1.1.1.
- Jailbreak it.
- Have fun or
- Install Oktoprep
- Upgrade to 1.1.2 again
- Follow to readme in jailbreakme.com (run a program on your windows/mac)
More detail of the tutorial :
- Download the 1.1.1 firmware from Apple site. iPod touch / iPhone (Download with Mozilla Firefox or if you use Safari, rename the .zip to .ipsw)
- Connect iPod touch / iPhone to iTunes 7.5, hold the shift key or the option key and click the “Check For Update” button. It will open up the File dialog. Browse for the 1.1.1 firmware, select it and click OK. iTunes will now install / downgrade to 1.1.1 firmware.
- Now you have a 1.1.1 iPod touch / iPhone, start Safari and navigate to http://jailbreakme.com. Click “Install AppSnapp”, wait for the download and your iPod touch / iPhone is then jailbroken.
DONE! You can play with 3rd party application now.
Additional, if you want to upgrade to 1.1.2 and jailbreak it, follow the instruction here.
