SingTel will be bringing iPhone into Singapore

iPhone

Many months back, I have forgotten when, I read about SingTel will be bringing iPhone into Singapore. It’s on the paper, and it was not confirm by then and now it has been confirmed that SingTel, the largest telco in Singapore will be bringing iPhone into Singapore.

Oh great! Singapore has it and how about Malaysia? Though who cares that much that who bring in, there’s something call unlock, jailbreak, hack and use! Even now it’s still not officially released in Singapore or Malaysia, I have already seen people on the street using a iPhone, one of which is my friend.

What I most concern about is, is it 3G or still the old iPhone? In my 2 cents, I dislike the current iPhone because the lack of 3G and better quality camera and limited features. Let’s put our hands together and hope for Steve will talk about the 3G iPhone in the coming WWDC 08 in 3 weeks time.

Do you think Maxis, Digi or Celcom will be the sole telco to sell iPhone? I think Digi because the Maxis and Celcom suck or maybe none, because all of them are still not up to standard.

Use your Old PC as HTPC / Media PC

What do you do with your old PC at home? Give it to the recycle man and get some little cash back? Leave it around as junk or make use of it? I have 2 PC at home, 1 is which I’m using to blog and another one for watching downloaded video. It’s not that I purposely built the other PC just for watching downloaded video.

Well, that media PC is actually my old primary PC, later then my brother gave me his which has a better specs so I intend to use his as my primary PC right now. My parents are not computer literate, using it as home PC will eventually turn out I am the one that use it only. Why not turning it into a server? Yeah, I think about that before but one thing that annoys me is that this PC is not for long run. It’s hot, the hea sink fan is noisy, I hate the stock Pentium 4 heatsink fan. It’s pretty quiet in a air-conditioned room when I am watching a movie, so I rather not to spend few hundred Ringgit on the fan itself.

It’s now doing good with me but my room have to be cool when watching a movie else the noise of the fan will come. Last time, I used to have a table fan blowing at the case, but now mom has took it somewhere else, moreover there’s not enough powerpoint for me, all the plugs on the wall are full.

Though, this PC is only for those who are computer literate because it doesn’t have Windows Media Center or XP Media Center edition installed or any other media center program. If you wanted to build a HTPC (Home theater PC)/Media PC for you family, be sure to have one of those program or get yourself a copy of Windows Vista which has Windows Media Center pre-installed and of course, get them a remote control. No keyboard or mouse to computer n3wbi3.

Now, friends and relative can enjoy some Youtube video and my downloads of TV series on the TV. However, I still can’t get media sharing and networking between Windows XP and Vista to work, any idea?

Xbox 360 leading in US console sales

Microsoft is showing off it’s Xbox 360 sales number. Stating that they had sell 10M consoles just in the United States which makes to be the first in top console sales on this generation video game console. People tends to think that Wii is the best selling console in the world, but wait a minute, I am talking about the number in the United States. As for Nintendo Wii, 8.8M units have been sold and PlayStation which only has 4M units sold.

Now, talking about worldwide, Nintendo Wii leads the market with 25M units sold, but Microsoft insisted that they sold the most for the current generation console. Nintendo Wii is not current generation because it doesn’t uses the high def format.

PlayStation 3 is chasing up too, with 9.2M sold worldwide since it’s release last year. Sony expects to sell another 10M consoles by March 2009. Good one!

Personally, I’ll go for PlayStation 3 and the Wii, don’t ask me why, I just like it. Xbox? I’ll wait for Xbox 720. LOL.

Asus EEE PC 901 Revealed

It had been only a few months that the Asus Eee PC 900 has been announced and few days it has been release in the market. Now, there’s a new model, or upgraded hardware model of Eee PC is revealed and that is the Asus Eee PC 901.

The presense of Eee PC 901 is most like to be compete with the latest Atom-based MSI Wind’s that was announced a few days ago and selling at a low price which is on par with the EEE PC. Basically, the MSI Wind is same price as Eee PC 900 but with better specs.

However, Eee PC 900 is still not widely available in Malaysia. I am still doing my saving to get one for myself. Sooner, these cheap subnotebook will be the must have for a gadget freak, since it’s so light and convenient.

If you think of getting yourself a Eee PC 701, the old 7″ model, just forget about it. Larger screen suits you better by just top-up for a few tens bucks.

New Boston’s Largest Apple Store in the U.S

image from Gizmodo

Oh my god, Apple just opened another big Apple Store in United States. It’s so pretty with the glass and a big Apple logo on the outside. Good architecture design.

The cube at 5th Avenue, New York is very nice too. I think this looks better than the one at Boston which is the first photo.

Epi Center

Sadly, I don’t see Apple opening any store in Asia. All of those Apple Centers are open by retailers. The best I get is epiCentre at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, while the nearest largest Apple store in Asia is …

iShop

the iShop by Club 21 in Cineleisure, Orchard Road of Singapore.

If I have a chance, I must make a visit to all the big Apple stores in the U.S. one day in the future.

Guitar Hero On Tour

I bet you heard about Guitar Hero before, the popular guitar rythm game on the video game console. It’s on Play Station, Xbox, Wii, PC, mobile and now it’s coming to the handheld, Nintendo DS! I was laughing at it when it was first announced a few months ago, who would want to play the Guitar Hero by tapping the screen and button just like the mobile version?

However, it’s different. It has it own guitar pad too. Though, this is different from the guitar on the video game console which has 5 button as this has only 4 button. You strum with the pick by tapping the touch screen. The guitar thingy is plug into the GBA port of the Nintendo DS Lite, sorry this is not available for the old DS.

Releasing in June and retail price is at $49.90 which come with the game, the guitar add-on, some stickers and a pick-liked stylus. Play-Asia is selling at $59.90, not sure why.

I like Guitar Hero game. Played from on my friend’s Xbox 360 before and it’s pretty addictive. But then I wouldn’t want to spend RM400 (US$150) on the game itself. Now I am thinking where to get a Nintendo DS Lite at around RM550 (US$170) to play this game? I am not getting this because of Guitar Hero, there’s new many nice game for me to try out on the DS etc. Pokemom, Osu! Tatakae Ouendan, Brain Age, Tetris DS, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy and more. Buy or not to buy?
