If you do read the newspaper, I believe you guys have already knew about the new BlackBerry Bold smartphone is here in Malaysia. First it was Celcom’s advertisement and then it’s Maxis.
It’s not a phone for everyone. A lot of my friends doesn’t like a full QWERTY keyboard smartphone, they said it’s only for the businessman who check email very often. They are quite wrong actually, I would love to own a QWERTY keyboard phone if I am given a chance. Mainly, I do check my email on the go, and second is I text message a lot. With Digi’s Friends and Family, each text message or SMS is only 1cent. This kind of phone can do a lot of thing but not only email, you can surf the net if you have an unlimited data plan or you are near to an open free wifi spot. So, I want to say that, it’s not a phone just for email.
Blackberry Bold is a very powerful phone with nice design, high resolution screen, 2megapixel camera with 3G connection. Unfortunately, there’s not a front face camera for video call, so the 3G is only for data.
Maxis and Celcom are both selling at around RM2000 (600USD). I can’t recommend which telco to go for, but as far as I know, Celcom provides a more stable data connection than Maxis 3G.
I will not go for this phone as for the high price tag, alternatively, I might go for the Nokia E71 which is below RM2000 and has more feature but not so gorgeous screen and design.

Hi Guys
I just got my BB Bold two week ago and must say that this is one fantastic phone. I actually owned a PDA phone (ASUS 535) and was initially a bit hesitant switching (touch screen) to a smart phone but was hooked to the design of the BB Bold and I had to get my corporate emails on the go as well.
I really find the BB Bold great as I find it more easier to navigate using the track ball and the full QWERTY keyboard is much easier to use, takes of the hassle of having to always take out the stylus pen and tap on the virtual keypad.
There are also other smart functions that I didn’t get on my ASUS PDA, things like the speed dialing is alphabetical and not numerical, meaning to speed dial the office I simply press on the O key and get office instead of having to remember which numeric key I had stored the speed dial on and the auto switch off and auto switch on function which enable me to program at what time should the phone switch off and turn on again the next day, small things that make life much easier.
Of course the main thing about getting a Blackberry is about the email functionality, I get my emails faster on the BB Bold than on my desktop. I also like the Facebook apps on the BB Bold a nice app to keep in touch and it actually updates your calendar with your friends birthdays automatically another surprising feature.
Overall I would say the BB Bold has definitely put the ‘smart’ into smart phones.
