Chinese Gadget: Pinhole Clip Video Camera

IMG_0572 by you.

Here’s another Chinese gadget that my dad bought from Shenzhen recently. This is actually a clip-able pinhole video camera which what the Chinese called it the MP9 or Chewing Gum. According to the seller, this is use for people to record talking during meetings or lectures. However, to me, it’s more like a spy cam.

The camera is hidden in the tiny little whole at the back. With a push of a button, it will start recording the video and save in AVI format. It’s not easy to use though, pretty hard to understand the LED which either mean Pause, Standy or Recording. But after going through the manual for several times, I know how it works already.

I’ll say this is just a toy, it’s not something useful. The bad part of this thing is bad sound recording quality and the AVI recorded video cannot be edited in Windows Movie Maker. It’s selling like around 150RMB with 2GB built in memory and expandable with microSD card.

Chinese Gadget: MP5 Player

My dad went to Shenzhen lately and bought home some Chinese made gadget. One of which he bought is this MP5 portable media player. It’s brandless or in fact the brand and model name is MP5. Very funny.

It looks pretty with a large 2.7 screen but not a touch screen., the screen is quite plastic which I feel that it will be cracked easily. Though the colour on the screen is pretty and the interface too. The buttons are all located on the side and is not difficult to navigate around the menu.

It has a 2GB memory which plays mp3, wma, avi, jpg, txt files for eBook and even Real Media format files (rmvb). There’s also FM radio and a voice recorder feature. It’s a cheap media player which cost around US$30 but there’s some cons about this are, cheap built quality, slow interface and sound quality is not as nice as the iPod.

As usual, I was checking my Gmail inbox after getting back from school just now and a subject caught my attention and it doesn’t look like a spam scam mail to me. It has a link which linked to http://nickchan.net/2009/04/06/my-first-real-polaroid/ which is one of my blog.

After checking through the content, for the first time, I was excited because there’s advertiser want to buy advertisement space on my site. However, I will go into detail, I wouldn’t be so stupid not to know about anything of it and sign up for it. The sender has a weird email domain. Then the amount of payment is a little bit too high, $4,800 is too good to be true.

I went to check out the site’s offer and I’ve decided not to sign up for what it is. It’s a affiliate program of no idea what it is. It has a weird domain name but with its site name as ContactThem. After checking on whois, it’s a domain forwarded to their ContactThem affiliate link.

ContactThem is a scam on the Internet which require member to download a software which extracts details out of databases and allows you to do a mass mailing with all of that personalized information.

Whether do you understand what it is or not, IT’S A SCAM FOR MAKING MONEY ONLINE.

Free iSMS, threaded text message on S60

IMG_0777

I just installed a new software into my N95 8GB S60 platform, it’s the Free iSMS. This makes text messaging funner and more addictive than ever with the threaded text message that looks like on the iPhone SMS system.

I have been looking for such thing for some times and finally I have found it and it does really exist by the way. It threads messages of the same sender into speech bubble so it looks like we are instant messaging to each other.

You still can access your phone inbox, but I tend to stick with this most of the time. I even put a shorcut on my standby screen for Free iSMS.

Warning: Addicted to text messages will boom your phone bill. Be sure to check out for unlimited text messages plan like Digi Prepaid Super SMS. =) (free promotion for Digi because they are doing a good job on this.)

Download here. [For Symbian S60 v3 and v5]
