MalaysiaKini News Available For Free Due To DDoS Attack – Malaysia‘s independent subscription-based news portal, the MalaysiaKini is now under DDoS (Denial-of-service) attack which sources said to be linked coming BERSIH 2.0 rally in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

DDoS attack in simple words is flooding the Internet website server with bots and making it unavailable to the public. The news portal was under the same attack in April which was during the Malaysia Sarawak Election. Some claimed it’s a censorship plot by the Malaysian Government, which BN (Barisan National) is the ruling party, yet there’s not strong evidence on it.

As for now, the DDoS attack has made MalaysiaKini free to view as normally only available to subscriber at a monthly fee. They have a few server and engineer working on the attack to keep the site on for reporting the news for the upcoming rally tomorrow. They also have a mirror site on WordPress.com in case the site fails.
Besides that, MalaysiaKini is also updating their Facebook page for latest news, just in case their site is block.
