Heroes’ Hiro (Masi Oka) on OLPC Ad
I love Heroes, do you love Heroes? Masi Oka starring as Hiro in the U.S. TV Series Heroes is my favourite so call hero in the movie. I just get to know that Masi Oka is OLPC’s (One Laptop Per Child) ambassador. I saw the ad and it was kinda cool so I’ll share it with you guys.
OLPC Give One Get One campaign is like you buy one OLPC for a kid that you don’t know in a developing, poor country, and you will get another OLPC for your child or whoever it is for 1 price $399. Be kind, be cool. Seems like buy 1 get 1 free. But you don’t get 2 in the end.
However, does this OLPC can really helps those kids in the poor country? I think giving them an Eee PC is better, better specs. Just my 2 cents. Haha.
Adverlets Cheque (check) is finally here!
After 2 months of waiting, the cheque (check) is finally here. That’s insane, on Adverlet’s site, it says that I will receive my cheque in the 2nd month after I cash out my earnings. It wasn’t like that, after more than 60 days of cashing out, I received it yesterday. Not in my letterbox but in my neighbor’s letterbox. What the fuck? They can’t even write my address correctly. Luckily my neighbor is kind to pass us the mail because the name on it is not theirs.

The cheque was in a cheapo HSBC envelope, I thought they send me via an envelope with Adverlets logo on it. It’s not what I expected. I expected it to be thick with Adverlets stickies like they sent their first cheque to their blogger last time. It’s only consist of a cheque in it, nothing then.

Kinabalu Blog’s cheque, it come with badges, stickers and a letter. Mine don’t.
On the envelope, it should be a 5 not a 6 and then you can see they spells Georgetown wrongly before, strike it, write again. The service sounds so unprofessional to me man.

Excited? Just a little bit, even though it’s my first cheque of money I made online. I guess this will be the last Adverlets chequeto me, because my earning from them is just like shit. I guess Nuffnang will be better than them. Placed ads for 9 months and earned just a little RM100, another RM50 is free by reviewing them last time. Currently earns RM57 in Advertlets, and it takes forever for me to reach RM100.
Maybe it’s me that do not manage my blog well? Less reader? I think so. This can be a reason for me earning so little in Adverlets. But then, it maybe also Adverlets that is not doing great in blog advertising, doesn’t pay that much like Adsense does.
I’ll have Adverlets ads in my blogs for a couple of month and see how other user think about it. If it’s still like old time, no improvement, I’ll remove it from my blogs.
Currently Nuffnang gives a more stable income, on my personal blog but still no advertiser buy any ads space on this and my food blog yet. Working hard to attract more reader now.
By the way, check is American English, and cheque is British English.
Happy Prepaid by DiGi Communication

Yesterday while I was looking at my own blog, I saw the a advertisement in my blog about Happy. I was so curious and I click about it, I know I can’t click on my own ads, but the ads was too attractive and as I said, curious.

At first, I got no idea what’s that. I thought it was something like iTalk or DiGi’s Chatz. But actually it’s not. Happy is actually a prepaid service like DiGi’s Prepaid, Maxis’ Hotlink, Celcom’s XPax. It’s DiGi’s Happy, but in the their site, I can’t see any word saying DiGi’s Happ, so it’s more or like Happy’s Happy. On the other hand Happy is like a private group funded by DiGi.

What it’s actually all about?
Very simple, Happy got a SIM card, gives you a phone number, network name will shows DiGi on your phone and it is prepaid based. Simple enough?

What’s so good about Happy?
Very good loh! It’s actually for people who talk a lot on the phone. A lot doesn’t means a few minutes, a lot means half an hour and more! Because no matter how long you talk, 5 hours, 10 hours, all your calls that are over 99 seconds are capped at 99 cents. Which also means that the call rate is at RM0.01/second and the maximum you pay for a call is only RM0.99.Besides that, you get 60 days validity with any amount your reload. Not like DiGi’s Prepaid, your phone validity is how much you reload, RM30 for a month, RM50 for 2 months. So, with Happy, you got no worry of your phone goes expired so fast.
What is Happy’s prefix number?
Happy is using on the 014-xxxxxxx network, sharing the same prefix with DiGi and Maxis.
Buy or not?
If you are a person who talk a lot, to your loved one, family, friends, everytime you guys talk must be very long one. As the Cantonese says “Boil Phone Porridge” which mean like you talk on the phone for a long time and then the phone becomes hot and it’s like boiling porridge, because boiling porridge takes time.
Sometimes, I call my friend and talk for quite long, the longest call I had made was 2 hours. That time was on handsfree, if not my ear will be cooked. Haha.
In conclusion, you talk a lot. You buy.

But no where you can buy the SIM pack now, only online or via phone. It’s free delivery now, pay RM25 and you will get the starter pack and RM2o credit. Buy now! I’m going to place my order on 1 sim pack soon, I want to check it out how the starter pack look like and since I’m in school holiday right now, I can find some friends to talk on the phone to keep in touch with them. =)
Good one Happy!

How to mute microphone in Windows Vista
I’ve been using Vista for some times and then my mic is always plug into my computer. The thing that bother me is I can heard my voice when I talk into the microphone. This sucks, which mean when I volume up my speaker, I can heard a loud irritating noise. Besides that, without Mic Boost on, my friend can hardly heard me on Skype, but then the problem is not I don’t want to turn on Mic Boost, it’s I can’t. If I turn on, then the loud irritating noise can be heard again.
So, now I need to mute my microphone so I can’t heard my voice when I am talking into it, but it still can take my voice in during Skype call or other recording software.
I had been looking around in Vista to mute the Microphone but then I found nothing in the mixer. After searching for some help on the net, I found out how to mute the microphone.
First, open Control Panel. Look for Sound and open it.

Then at Playback tab, right click on Speakers then click on Properties.

Click on Levels tab, then you’ll see Microphone. There’s a speaker icon there, click on it and you’ll now got your Microphone mute.

Walla! It’s done. Congratulation now you can no worry of turning your speaker loud and doing mic boost.
Upgrade from 512kbps to 1mbps Streamyx Broadband

Streamyx is back with their promotion. As usual, their promotion is always the same, RM77 for 1mbps broadband package. When there is no promotion, the normal price for Streamyx 1mbps package is RM88 and RM99, with and without modem. Free online value added service like free English Premiere League highlights, free online newspaper and other value added service doesn’t really fancy me that much.
I just one a fast broadband connection, a modem to online and a reasonable, affordable subscription to let me go online and do my work. The freebies that TM Net offers are not attractive. As far as I know, M1 in Singapore gives out Apple Mac computer, Xbox 360 and others gadget to their subscriber during their promotion period, as well as Hong Kong’s broadband company.
Back to the Streamyx thingy, I am currently subscribe to the RM66/month, 512kbps download speed service. I just can’t upgrade, pay extra 11 bucks to use the 1mbps download package. What I’m going to do is, terminate my account, re-subscribe to Streamyx again for this RM77 package. Get a free modem, but have to pay RM75 for account activation fee. This sucks, but somehow I found out that some reseller offers cash rebate up to RM40. So RM75-RM40=RM25, I pay only RM25 for activation and no installation fee because I know how to do the broadband myself.
I got 3 computers at home, 1 is for downloading TV series, Internet TV and media. So when that PC is on, the other 2 is very slow on surfing the net, chating and other stuff. I just need more speed, 512kbps download is definitely not enough for now. I want like 5mbps download but then there’s no such fast speed in Malaysia. So too bad for me.
Hong Kong’s Broadband service is many times better than Malaysia
Remember Malaysia released 4mbps broadband few months ago? It’s only available in a few area in Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley, not the whole Malaysia. Moreover, it’s still not on Fibre Optic if I am not wrong, still running through telephone cable.
I listened to a Cantonese podcast and knew about Hong Kong’s broadband service and now I know Malaysia is so far behind Hong Kong. Our most basic broadband from Streamyx, Jaring or Maxis or whatever is 384kbps and still on ADSL through telephone line. Then I saw some Hong Kong’s broadband TVC (Television Commercial), it seems like they are laughing at people who are using broadband through telephone line, because now they are going into Fibre Optic world. They are advertising their Fibre Optic line everywhere.
Their lowest, most basic plan is like 25mbps. Woah! It’s 50 times faster than mine! What the heck? And they do offers 1000mbps or 1gbps broadband to home too, for about US$238. That’s too much for me, the most simple, basic plan is enough for me if I got a chance to use such fast broadband.
In Malaysia also got Fibre Optic connection, but still it’s limited to some area and the fastest it provide is 2mbps. It Penang, we got PenangFON providing this service but somehow my apartment is not available yet.

Check out this for Hong Kong Broadband Network’s broadband plan for your reference. (It’s in Chinese)
Broadband package there is like Singapore, giving out free gift like Sony PSP, iPod, Microsoft Xbox and much much more. Not like here, only provide you a free chiplak modem and some free online value added service.
I was just wondering, when Malaysia only will get such fast speed for Internet. I just can’t stand my current 512kbps broadband, I probably need a upgrade to 1mbps since Streamyx is having a promotion right now. Read that TM Net will launch Fibre Optic connection next year, so let’s wait. But it will take a long time also, to lay the cables, and stuff.
