iPhone 3G in Singapore now
iPhone 3G is in Singapore now by SingTel. Unfortunately, it’s pretty expensive after signing up for the plan unless you are an real iPhone fan.
Hopefully, whatever telco that is bringing iPhone into Malaysia will provide a nice price and plan for us. I am am getting not excited for it now after seeing the expensive plan in Singapore and it’s so not worth for it. It still cheaper in United States comparing to other country right now.
Let’s wait and see, the telco contract plan for iPhone will sure drop. When it comes, I gonna get it. Don’t rush for it yet as there’s bugs yet to be fixed on the new iPhone 3G. Stay cool.

Jailbreak 1.1.4 iPhone and iPod touch easily with ZiPhone

I have just help a friend of mine to jailbreak his iPod touch with 1.1.4 firmware. I didn’t want to upgrade to 2.0 for him because he doesn’t have a credit card to sign up for an iTunes Music Store account which is needed to download apps in App Store even it’s free.
iPod touch or old iPhone with 1.1.4 firmware is actually quite easy to jailbreak. Since, jailbreakme.com on 1.1.4 doesn’t work, you need to find an alternative solution on jailbreaking it.
Go download ZiPhone, a program that will jailbreak your iPod or iPhone with just a click in few minutes. The best of this program is you do not need to downgrade your machine. It just run some codes in your machine and in minutes, you will see Installer in your springboard. Besides that, your song library will be still there too.

It’s not like last time when I jailbreak the 1.1.2, I had to downgrade it first to 1.1.1, then run jailbreakme.com and then again upgrade back to 1.1.2. All the files wer gone too.
Jailbreaking your iPod and iPhone is voiding your Apple warranty. Do it at your own risk and please support Apple’s original software. Cheer! I just love Apple a lot.
By the way, iPod touch and iPhone without apps is just an useless shit. Don’t you agree with me?
Upgraded to iPod touch 2.0
Previously and all the time before my iPod touch was running on the first iPod touch firmware when it’s released many months ago, it was on 1.1.1. Actually at first it was 1.1.2 when I bought it, then only I downgrade it to 1.1.1 to do the jailbreak. iTouch or iPhone without any third party application is just as useless and uncool as shit. It’s only the apps that make them stand out.
Before that, Apple requires us to pay for 1.1.4 for Mail, Maps, Notes and Stocks app, it’s not third party, it’s official, I didn’t pay for it because I can get it on the jailbroken Installer.
Last month, at San Fransisco’s MacWorld Keynote, Steve Jobs announced the iPhone and iPod touch 2.0 firmware which allow users to download third party apps from the newly added App Store. When I heard third party apps, I was like “WOW, that’s great, there’s official licensed third party apps right now”. No more worrying about voided warranty.
For US$9.90, it’s pretty worth for it. I have bought it, upgraded and playing with many of the free apps now. There’s some that require you to pay, like games, utilities and more. I’ll see how’s the review about it only then I’ll buy it. $9.90 per game is quite expensive. Nevertheless paying for 2.0 upgrade is worth for it.
Apps installed in my iPod touch:
- Scribble
- WritingPad
- Twinkle
- Twitterific
- NYTimes
- iWant
- Currency
- To Do
- PageOnce
- Wordpress
- Pownce
- Banner Free
- Tap Tap Revenge
- iPint
- Othello
- Light
Upgrade your iTouch and iPhone now!
Apple announces iPhone 3G
The prediction that everyone made a few weeks back was pretty true as Apple just announced the new iPhone yesterday. For your information, 3G is not the biggest changes from the iPhone as the main attraction of the new iPhone is the freaking low price at 199$/299$/399$ for 8GB, 16GB and 32GB respectively.
3G is just an upgrade on the data transfer, sadly there’s no a front face camera for making video call. If you get an iPhone 3G, you probably must get an unlimited data plan for you because that is what a 3G iPhone for, web surfing on the go, push email etc etc.
Unfortunately, there’s still isn’t any good mobile data plan here in Malaysia yet. Celcom is the most recommended one at the moment but I am not a Celcom user. I uses Maxis and Digi. People are complaining about the connection keep dropping on Maxis 3G Broadband while DiGi still do not offers any high speed data plan yet. As I’ll just have to wait for DiGi to announced 3G connection and U Mobile (new telco in Malaysia) to come to Penang.
Too, it’s now added with A-GPS which allow you to track yourself on the built in Google Maps.
Likes:
- 3G High Speed Data Transfer
- Cheaper Price
- Built in A-GPS
- iPhone 2.0 Firmware
- New cool Apps
- Foreign language input
Dislikes:
- Not announced in Malaysia yet. Has to get from Singapore and maybe with Singtel contract.
- No MMS
- No video recording
- No face front camera for video call
- Low quality camera
- In-store activation. Activate right away in-store.
Well, according to Steve during the Keynote, you can’t buy iPhone online in the states nor activate it yourself. All the activation is done in-store right away meaning that you will now have to sign up for the contract right away in Apple store, though those people out there sure got a way to avoid signing up for the contract when buying the iPhone right.
In Asia, it’s only Hong Kong and Japan that will get their first hand on the iPhone on July 11th while Singapore and other Asia Pacific country will be later this year. Sadly, there’s no Malaysia in the list. Oh my god!
Since it’s so cheap, it pretty worth to get one for yourself. As for me, I think I’ll be getting one as my secondary phone, I already have a phone that can do video call, getting this for my mobile entertainment and as a always connected device is good.

WWDC 08 Live Coverage
I have been following almost all Apple event since a year ago when I was being very enthusiastic on the technology world. It’s June, and it’s now the WWDC 08 happening in San Fransisco. Being a tech savvy teen, I can’t be traveling across the globe for the event as $ concerns.
I am currently sitting in front of the computer desk with a lot of tabs on my Firefox browser running and keep tapping F5 on several sites for the latest update on the keynote by Steve Job in San Fransisco.
I did some searching on live video or audio feed but turns out all of them are down right now. Guess I’ll just have to stick with the refreshing of words.
Here’s a few site that I am following.
- Cnet
Not so much but it’s sufficient for all the updates I need. I’ll gonna be having a dark eye circle in school tomorrow as it’s midnight here right now in Malaysia.
By the way, I do not own any Mac, yet but I have a lots of iPods at home. =D
Turn your iPhone/iPod touch into a LED Banner
Buying a LED badge or nametag is pretty expensive. If you have an iPhone or iTouch, you can save the cost and turn your huge 3.5″ screen into a scrolling LED ticker where you can have your message running or maybe do a lil adverting on your site URL.
It’s easy very to get the LED Banner or Ticker working on your iPhone/iTouch. Simply move to Installer (if you have already jailbreak it), search for LEDBanner at All Package and there’s only 1 result. Install it and you are ready to go.
Just type in your message you want to show and it will start scrolling. You can mount it on your belt and wear it along. People will start staring at your pants by then.
The only problem I face is how to keep the screen on for long but not turning off. Any idea?
