LG KS360 Cheap Slider QWERTY Phone

I was reading the newspaper and then an advertisement caught my eyes. It’s a T-Mobile Sidekick liked phone but doesn’t twist around for the QWERTY keyboard instead it’s a slider that slide sideway to review a QWERTY keypad.
It’s the LG KS360 and the price is quite interesting as it’s selling for RM699 (as stated on the advertorial).

This is probably aimed at heavy text messaging user like me but then mobile phone users in Malaysia are noobs, they don’t really like QWERTY keypad because most of them are used to T9 English and they are not familiar with the QWERTY keyboard layout. It also has a iPhone messaging liked UI which link up all the message into speech bubble thread which makes it look like chatting on IM.
Touch screen and the QWERTY keypad are the main attractive points of the phone and of course the price. It has a 2MP camera (without LED flash), microSD card slot (can be expanded until 4GB memory), 16MB built-in memory, media player and other usual things. Unfortunately, it doesn’t has a front-faced camera or 3G connection and a 3.5mm line out jack for playing music. It will be almost great if it does.

AP LG phones are quite hard to find, in fact not much people knows about this LG KS360 yet. Hopefully I can see one soon in store.
Pros:
- QWERTY keypad
- 2.4″ Touchscreen
- Sleek design
- Interesting price
- Expandable memory via microSD and hotswap
Cons:
- No 3G
- Camera without LED Flash
- No WIFI
- Lousy web browser (can be fixed with Opera Mini)
- No 3.5mm headphone output jack
Comes in a few colours too. I’ll picked the silver keypad one. =)
4G iPod nano Hands-on
I have went into the Apple store to check out the new iPods. Unfortunately, the only demo unit available is the new iPod nano. Nevertheless, I quickly got my hands-on on it. It feels better than the fat 3G nano. Seriously, I like a long one than a fat one. The curve design makes it looks thinner and more comfortable. It has a very striking color for the silver iPod nano because the click wheels is in black
Screen is not very big, 2″ size, but when comparing with the 1G and 2G iPod nano, it seems big. It’s a little bit longer than the old Nano.
Navigating through the menu, nothing much amaze me. It’s still and iPod user interface, with thumnails and also cover flow when viewing the iPod nano in a vertical way.
The best new feature I like about the 4G iPod nano is the built in accelerometer. Besides working for cover flow, you can shuffle a song by just shaking your iPod nano. It’s like the Sony Ericsson W910i and W580i with shake control. Don’t you will be shuffling your song when you go on a run or a bumpy ride, you have to shake hard to shuffle to the next song. Isn’t that cool?

The rest feature remains the same. Videos, photos, music, and of couse it’s cheaper now. One thing I forgot to mention is, the new iPod nano is colourful, there’s 9 colours to choose from. I like the green, black and silver. What about you?

Nokia 6280 Problems
I am not a fan of mobile phone, I save my money more on gadgets than a mobile phone. I have been using the Nokia 6280 that my brother gave me for a few months and it’s dead now. Not 100% dead but it’s going to die, perhaps.
It’s actually sent into repair once last year and now it’s spoilt again. The battery has changed a new one, the previous one bloated.
I have to just dump this phone aside and use back my old Samsung D500C which quite a strong phone but bad software.
What the problem on the Nokia 6280 is, camera feature not functioning, no sound coming out from handset, had to turn on loudspeaker for phone calls, no more LED on screen, it’s dark, phone crash when surfing the net, the phone smells like it’s going to explode, electronic burning smells and lose slide.
Everything is OK to me except there’s a electronic burning smells from the phone which scared me. I scared it will explode in no time and so I will not using it anymore.
It’s time for me to save for a new phone. I haven’t been buying a phone for 3 years, it’s all from my brother’s. My wanted phone will be Samsung OMNIA, Nokia E71i, Nokia xpresMedia, HTC Touch Pro.
BlackBerry Bold in Malaysia by Maxis and Celcom
If you do read the newspaper, I believe you guys have already knew about the new BlackBerry Bold smartphone is here in Malaysia. First it was Celcom’s advertisement and then it’s Maxis.
It’s not a phone for everyone. A lot of my friends doesn’t like a full QWERTY keyboard smartphone, they said it’s only for the businessman who check email very often. They are quite wrong actually, I would love to own a QWERTY keyboard phone if I am given a chance. Mainly, I do check my email on the go, and second is I text message a lot. With Digi’s Friends and Family, each text message or SMS is only 1cent. This kind of phone can do a lot of thing but not only email, you can surf the net if you have an unlimited data plan or you are near to an open free wifi spot. So, I want to say that, it’s not a phone just for email.
Blackberry Bold is a very powerful phone with nice design, high resolution screen, 2megapixel camera with 3G connection. Unfortunately, there’s not a front face camera for video call, so the 3G is only for data.
Maxis and Celcom are both selling at around RM2000 (600USD). I can’t recommend which telco to go for, but as far as I know, Celcom provides a more stable data connection than Maxis 3G.
I will not go for this phone as for the high price tag, alternatively, I might go for the Nokia E71 which is below RM2000 and has more feature but not so gorgeous screen and design.

iPhone 3G in Singapore now
iPhone 3G is in Singapore now by SingTel. Unfortunately, it’s pretty expensive after signing up for the plan unless you are an real iPhone fan.
Hopefully, whatever telco that is bringing iPhone into Malaysia will provide a nice price and plan for us. I am am getting not excited for it now after seeing the expensive plan in Singapore and it’s so not worth for it. It still cheaper in United States comparing to other country right now.
Let’s wait and see, the telco contract plan for iPhone will sure drop. When it comes, I gonna get it. Don’t rush for it yet as there’s bugs yet to be fixed on the new iPhone 3G. Stay cool.

REVIEW:Guitar Hero On Tour for Nintendo DS

Guess what, my Guitar Hero On Tour for the Nintendo DS that I ordered a week ago has finally arrived at my doorstep. I bought the game online at a site call Play-Asia.com which is where I bought some of my console gaming accessories.
It’s a little bit cheaper when compairing to local price, I bought it online because I have funds in my PayPal account and it’s useless if I leave it there since I can’t withdraw it out yet. It has now takes one week time for the free delivery of the parcel to arrived. It was two weeks when many many months ago.
The box is not as huge as I thought. It’s just the size of two Nintendo DS game box.

Opening the box, I came across a few things. The main guitar grip with four buttons which require you to plug into the GameBoy cartridge slot, the game’s manual, sticker for for the grip or you want to stick it somewhere else and an adapter for plugging in the grip on the old phat Nintendo DS.
I can’t find the special pick stylus at first and then I remembered it is stick to the guitar grip when I saw some video on YouTube.

I’m glad as this is actually my first purchase of Nintendo DS oringal title. At the moment, I am playing games off the flashcart where all the roms are save into it.
I got to say that one of the reason I bought Nintendo DS for myself was because of the release of Guitar Hero On Tour. Even the tracks are limited to only 26 tracks, yet this is quite nice to play on the go. Plug in the grip, put in the cartridge, turn it on and you are ready to jam.
I dislike the game that the grip is being lose, it’s quite easy get detached from the Nintendo DS when you are jamming too fast and it require you to make a restart of the game in order to continue playing. You can’t just so, repluggin the grip and continue playing.
Here’s a complete new soundtrack which will not be available on the console version of Guitar Hero, most of them are literally new pop song and only some oldies rock.
Tier 1 - Subway:
- Ok Go - “Do What You Want”
- No Doubt - “Spiderwebs”
- Jet - “Are You Gonna Be my Girl”
- Blink 182 - “All the Small Things”
- Twisted Sister - “We’re Not Gonna Take it”
Tier 2 - Rooftop:
- Nirvana - “Breed”
- Smash Mouth - “All Star”
- Rick Springfield - “Jessie’s Girl”
- Pat Benatar - “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”
- Maroon 5 - “This Love”
Tier 3 - Parade:
- Los Lonely Boys - “Heaven”
- Bloc Party - “Helicopter”
- The Doobie Brothers - “China Grove”
- KISS (cover by Line 6) - “Rock and Roll All Nite”
- Daughtry - “What I Want”
Tier 4 - Greek Arena:
- Steve Miller Band (cover by Wavegroup) - “Jet Airliner”
- Santana (cover by Line 6) - “Black Magic Woman”
- Stray Cats - “Stray Cat Strut”
- ZZ Top (cover by Line 6) - “La Grange”
- Skid Row (cover by Wavegroup) - “Youth Gone Wild”
Tier 5 - Battleship:
- Ozzy Osbourne - “I Don’t Want to Stop”
- Incubus - “Anna Molly”
- Red Hot Chili Peppers - “Knock me Down”
- Stevie Ray Vaughan - “Pride And Joy”
- Lynyrd Skynyrd (cover by Wavegroup) - “I Know A Little”
Bonus
- Freezepop - “I Am Not Your Gameboy”
You hold the Nintendo DS vertically with your left arm strapping onto the guitar grip, your right hand is to “strum” the string on the touch screen. I felt quite uncomfortable with my arm when I first play with it, it’s better to rest your arm on the desk when playing but after some times, it’s feeling nice to play the game.

When activating Star Power, you don’t tilt your Nintendo DS, instead you need to shout “Rock On” through the microphone. It’s so silly but I will not do so, just blow through the microphone and the Star Power will be activated.
I’m the only one among my friends who own the game so I am not able to try out the multiplayer mode yet. It seems to be fun but let me finish all the track on all level except easy first.
Now I can jam wherever and whenever I want on the run and go on the train and bus and car!
