Apacer AH128 16GB Flash Drive – I went to the PIKOM PC Fair today at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and bought myself an Apacer flash drive with capacity of 16GB. It’s a standard USB2.0 flash drive, wanted to find a fast Transcend flash drive but couldn’t find it, end up with a normal, not fast, but beautiful design flash drive from Apacer. Since I am not doing some heavy tasking, I just use the flash drive for saving documents and some image for school and work, so I think this slow speed is acceptable.

What I like the most is the small size and the sleek silver design. It costs RM46. What do you think? By the way, Apacer is a Taiwanese brand.

Logitech M100 Mouse – Went to shopping last week at the computer hardware shop and bought myself a Logitech M100 mouse, which is the cheapest mouse among the Logitech series.

For only RM19.90 (US$6.5~), what can you expect with this mouse? Actually it’s not back after all. The ergonomic is good, the scroll wheel has four directions, it’s smooth, the USB cable is long and the scroll wheel is nice to scroll, and most importantly it’s cheap.

Well, actually I has a good mouse, the Apple Magic Mouse, just I need a mouse with a proper scroll wheel, left and right click for me to use AutoCAD software on the computer. Apple Magic Mouse just doesn’t work with the software. Afterall, I am not gaming, so I do not need a Razer Orochi, perhaps anyone can buy for me as a gift. Haha.

Fixed WordPress 3.2.1 Link Problem – I run a few blogs across the Internet and I have updated one of the blog (nickchan.net) to the latest version of WordPress 3.2.1. I was liking the new interface of the admin area until I encounter with a problem during I was writing a blog post. My blog post couldn’t aut0-save and every time I try to hyperlink a phrase, word or image, the whole page refreshes and I have no auto-save draft in my database. This really troubles and annoys me a lot until I found a good solution.

I was thinking of downgrading the WordPress but it seems many works to do. And then I found out that it’s actually one of the plugin which is causing the problem – Disqus Comment System. The solution is pretty simple, go to Disqus’ website, download the latest WordPress plugin and copy it to your ftp server and WordPress is working godlike now. So, the lesson is, have your plugin updated to the latest version all the time.

New iPad LockScreen -I want to share with you my current LockScreen on my first generation iPad and I am loving it. The big clock, the date and the wallpaper just make the iPad even better to use than before. Customization on iOS device is not an easy thing (iPad is even harder than iPhone as less theme database) as you need to bare the risk of jailbreaking your device and takes many time to search for a suitable team (where most of the theme sucks).

Android on the other hand is a customization friendly device, it’s super duper easy to customize your UI with the Android but in iOS, you are locked within a decorated walled garden.

I Am Using Mac OS X Lion – Apple released the latest update for the operating system of the Macintosh, the Mac OS X Lion few days ago. I didn’t download and buy on the first day but I downloaded it on the 2nd day. The price of the upgrade is US$29.90 which I think is pretty reasonable and it’s just available online as Apple is promoting a green environment.

The sad thing was it took me about 10 hours to finish downloading the file as you know, living in Malaysia, I have an Internet download speed of 150-200kbps which is slow when compare to other country.

I think it’s a good upgrade as the new system always bring new features. I was from Leopard to Snow Leopard and now I am on Lion. They main feature of the Lion is the gesture that you can use with the multi-touch trackpad and also the Mission Control interface which shows all your app.

They also make it more user friendly and iOS like with the application Launchpad. These are some of the feature that I am proudly showing off, more to play and more to try. If you are on Snow Leopard, it’s time to upgrade to Lion and you will not regret on spending US$29.90.

The best part of all, it allow you to install up to 5 Macs with just a single purchase. I shared this copy with my brother. =)

Facebook For iPad Is Coming Really Soon – iPad has been in the market for more than 1.5 years and number one social networking site Facebook still haven’t release an official app for the iPad support. iPad user have been using alternative like the enlarge version of Facebook for iPhone, Friendly, MyPad for Facebook and more.

Just recently, someone found a backdoor to check out the Facebook for iPad app through the Facebook for iPhone app installed on the iPad. Just a little bit tweak and you can check out the new Facebook for iPad app, featuring a full screen and feature pack.

Of course, your iPad need to be jailbroken to try out. I tried but unfortunately I couldn’t get in because Facebook has already block the access to the app and I don’t get to try it. Really bad luck of me, but this also means that the ETA of the app for iPad is coming really very soon. So, it’s just around the corner and get your iPad ready for the app. Facebook for iPad is coming really soon.

When Blu-Ray disc was announced few years back, it was a powerful media disc with copy protection and there’s not pirated Blu-Ray disc in the market until just recently. On a trip to China, my dad found shops selling Blu-Ray disc at extremely low price, which starts from 16RMB (2.4US$) which does not include a proper box art and cover, where the most expensive is only at 46RMB (7.11US$) which comes with a proper box art and nicely sealed.

The seller claimed the 46RMB is an original version, which we think it’s not and the 16RMB one is obviously a copied pirated version which no trust on that it will be delivering 1080p image and HD sound.

We brought two copy of the 46RMB version home to try it out. The box art is pretty good just with no booklet and the inner box is a standard box with a cover of YBD. The Blu-Ray disc is a black surface disc.

Well, loaded the disc into the player and it’s confirmed that it’s a Blu-Ray disc. The quality is superb and sound quality is great, featuring up to DTS HD audio.

The image quality is good too! Showing up to 1080p on my Toshiba 55″ Full HD LCD TV. So, I guess it’s true that a Blu-Ray disc can be copied already.

I just bought a new protective sleeve for my MacBook Pro. I didn’t get a case or bag because I want something that give protective, at the same time thin and cool to be put in my backpack or perhaps a messenger bag. CAPDASE ProKeeper 15″ Sleeve is a good solution for my MacBook Pro protective.

The price is RM98.00 (33US$). The sleeve is thin and has a little spongy protection on it so the MacBook Pro can be protected even there’s a little pressure pressed on it.

The sleeve has a minimalist design with little CAPDASE logo and the whole thing is plain black. It’s pretty worth for the money as the sleeve is reversible with a red interior color which means that you can turn it over and you get a red color sleeve.

It fitted the MacBook Pro tightly and the MacBook Pro will not slip out of it too. I recommended this piece of protective sleeve and you can get look for it at your nearest Apple or computer accessories outlet. One thing, I realised that computer accessories shop sell 14.1 inch cover more than 15″, 15″ cover is like only can be found in Apple shop.

Ladies and gentleman, I am proud to show you the photos of the unboxing of the latest version, 2011 version of Apple MacBook Pro. =D Yes people, I just bought a MacBook Pro lately because my old White MacBook was failing on me. I bought via online through the Apple Online Store and through the education discount so it’s cheaper.

Some asked me why I don’t get at the Apple Campus Experience Store in my campus so I can bring it home right away and the reason is because I want to customize the display of the MacBook Pro. The original display is 1440×900 and I want to upgrade to high resolution 1680×1050. It’s only another RM300 (100US$) top up which total up is RM6474 (2150US$). It took them 5 days to deliver and shipped.

The address I put was my mom’s office cause I was afraid that when it’s here, I am not at home. The delivery via DHL was pretty fast as there’s not really a problem at the custom and airport. It’s transported from Shanghai – Hong Kong – Shen Zhen – Kuala Lumpur – Penang.

Actually I was checking the delivery status day by day and on last Friday, as usual I check through the status page and surprisingly saw it says “Delivered and signed by (SOMEONE)”. I was so excited and quickly jumped up from bed, get freshen up and went to the office to collect and unbox it.

It’s my first time unboxing a MacBook Pro and I was so excited and happy. I was just doing it slowly.

Apple just wrapped and packaged it so well where everything in the box was so organized and nicely placed. I very salute them, it’s so unlike other laptops as they are just in a box with form. The Apple’s package was different, the adapter, the manual and the cable was placed very neatly and nicely in the box.
