Guess what, my Guitar Hero On Tour for the Nintendo DS that I ordered a week ago has finally arrived at my doorstep. I bought the game online at a site call Play-Asia.com which is where I bought some of my console gaming accessories.

It’s a little bit cheaper when compairing to local price, I bought it online because I have funds in my PayPal account and it’s useless if I leave it there since I can’t withdraw it out yet. It has now takes one week time for the free delivery of the parcel to arrived. It was two weeks when many many months ago.

The box is not as huge as I thought. It’s just the size of two Nintendo DS game box.

Opening the box, I came across a few things. The main guitar grip with four buttons which require you to plug into the GameBoy cartridge slot, the game’s manual, sticker for for the grip or you want to stick it somewhere else and an adapter for plugging in the grip on the old phat Nintendo DS.

I can’t find the special pick stylus at first and then I remembered it is stick to the guitar grip when I saw some video on YouTube.

I’m glad as this is actually my first purchase of Nintendo DS oringal title. At the moment, I am playing games off the flashcart where all the roms are save into it.

I got to say that one of the reason I bought Nintendo DS for myself was because of the release of Guitar Hero On Tour. Even the tracks are limited to only 26 tracks, yet this is quite nice to play on the go. Plug in the grip, put in the cartridge, turn it on and you are ready to jam.

I dislike the game that the grip is being lose, it’s quite easy get detached from the Nintendo DS when you are jamming too fast and it require you to make a restart of the game in order to continue playing. You can’t just so, repluggin the grip and continue playing.

Here’s a complete new soundtrack which will not be available on the console version of Guitar Hero, most of them are literally new pop song and only some oldies rock.

Tier 1 - Subway:

Freezepop - “I Am Not Your Gameboy”

You hold the Nintendo DS vertically with your left arm strapping onto the guitar grip, your right hand is to “strum” the string on the touch screen. I felt quite uncomfortable with my arm when I first play with it, it’s better to rest your arm on the desk when playing but after some times, it’s feeling nice to play the game.

When activating Star Power, you don’t tilt your Nintendo DS, instead you need to shout “Rock On” through the microphone. It’s so silly but I will not do so, just blow through the microphone and the Star Power will be activated.

I’m the only one among my friends who own the game so I am not able to try out the multiplayer mode yet. It seems to be fun but let me finish all the track on all level except easy first.

Now I can jam wherever and whenever I want on the run and go on the train and bus and car!

I have just help a friend of mine to jailbreak his iPod touch with 1.1.4 firmware. I didn’t want to upgrade to 2.0 for him because he doesn’t have a credit card to sign up for an iTunes Music Store account which is needed to download apps in App Store even it’s free.

iPod touch or old iPhone with 1.1.4 firmware is actually quite easy to jailbreak. Since, jailbreakme.com on 1.1.4 doesn’t work, you need to find an alternative solution on jailbreaking it.

Go download ZiPhone, a program that will jailbreak your iPod or iPhone with just a click in few minutes. The best of this program is you do not need to downgrade your machine. It just run some codes in your machine and in minutes, you will see Installer in your springboard. Besides that, your song library will be still there too.

It’s not like last time when I jailbreak the 1.1.2, I had to downgrade it first to 1.1.1, then run jailbreakme.com and then again upgrade back to 1.1.2. All the files wer gone too.

Jailbreaking your iPod and iPhone is voiding your Apple warranty. Do it at your own risk and please support Apple’s original software. Cheer! I just love Apple a lot.

By the way, iPod touch and iPhone without apps is just an useless shit. Don’t you agree with me?

U Mobile is a new mobile telco in Malaysia, it was formerly known as MiTV and it’s still own by MiTV by Berjaya. 018 is their prefix and it’s still quite new and still in the process of setting up cell tower and expanding its coverage all over Malaysia. Over months, their postpaid service is only available in Klang Valley where Kuala Lumpur is. 3G and data service too is not available in other states except Klang Valley.

I got a friend that was a Beta tester for 018 told me that U Mobile is more to be focus on data and Mobile Digital TV or known as DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld) and they are one of the few telco that was awarded with 3G spectrum license few years back.

U Mobile still does not have a lot of cell tower all over Malaysia, when you are outside Kuala Lumpur, U Mobile will ride on Celcom’s line via a national roaming service at 0 cost. This mean you still be able to make call at the normal rate but no 3G and data for you.

So I thought about this, why not go get a prepaid for fun in Kuala Lumpur. I am still able to use it in Penang but it’s just no 3G for me. In a forum, a forumer guided that there’s actually shop here in Penang has started taking in U Mobile prepaid, though there’s still not any U Store in Penang yet. There will be one in Queensbay Mall but it’s still under renovation yet. After looking around in the mall, I have found a shop has the prepaid simpack. I planned to get a nice number but turned out all the number is just so-so only.

U Mobile Prepaid simpack is really free for everyone with RM1 credit. You just picked your desired simpack number, fill in the prepaid registration form and you are ready to go. Remember to buy a reload coupon as you need to reload your mobile credit in 7 days time to prevent line termination. Activation was pretty fast for me, after the shop dealer registered my line, it’s activated within half an hour.

On my Samsung phone it shows My Celcom as the operator, I assumed it is roaming on other network. However, when I switch it to a Nokia phone, it shows U Mobile on the screen. At the moment, I got no idea what to do with this new phone number, no GPRS for me, no MMS for me, it’s only call and SMS.

The call rate is 0.8cent/second = 48cents/minute which is rather expensive than other prepaid service, though it’s second based that means that you pay on the seconds of call you have made. SMS rate is at 8cent/sms to all network in Malaysia, this is consider cheaper than all other telco but there’s not premium service like Friends and Family or Activ5/10 on Digi and Maxis. Perhaps it’s still a new mobile, I am expecting more feature and service to come.

I’m actually hoping for cheap unlimited data rate, cheap call rate, SMS rate, MMS rate and the most I am looking forward to is still their data service. Let’s wait and see how do they do.

By the way, I have 3 mobile number now, Maxis, Digi and U, I still lack of Celcom and Happy. But it’s just for fun, Maxis and Digi still serve as my primary number.

Recently, my friend just lend me his portable HDD to transfer some files to me. I don’t have one so I have to use his. It’s a small portable HDD and it’s smaller than those 2.5″ hard disk drive enclosure and with VAIO word imprint on the silver case.

I didn’t know that Sony has po rtable HDD, I’m wondering is it a just an enclosure or a real portable HDD that’s release by S ony.

There’s no other word on the portable HDD, instead it’s quite easy to take of the case and seeing there’s a small 20GB HDD and a piece of paper folded up to fill the case because the HDD is real small and only half the size of the case.

The transfer speed between the portable HDD and the PC via a USB cable is at a average speed, it’s just the same as my CF card to my PC. Not at a high speed.

After searching through the net, I only found Sony portable HDD in black colour, bigger casing and with security feature. It’s not like what it is here. So what do you think? An enclosure or is it really a portable HDD by Sony that released long time ago?

I bet a lot of you gamers out there heard of Team Fortress 2 which still currently in the top 10 best online multiplayer game, it was in the first place but its place has been taken over by Call Of Duty 4. As you know Team Fortress 2 is not a games with very realistic graphic like the Battlefield and Call Of Duty, though those 3D cute characters and bloody scene make the game addictive and fun. That’s why it’s being on the top multiplayer games list.

At this time, soon in the Summer, EA Games is going to release a similar game to the Team Fortress 2 and that is the Battlefield Heroes. From the trailer and in game footage, it’s seems to be a third person shooter instead of a first person one. Both gamesplay and graphic are alike, but it’s less bloody in Battlefield Heroes To be short about the games, Battlefield Heroes is a cartoon shooter. =)

The best part of the game is not the graphic but it’s the price of the game. You wouldn’t believe it when I say it’s a game from Electronic Arts and it’s giving out for free. Actually you don’t need a CD to play it and you don’t really need to download it too. It’s more like the game Soldier Front where you register an account on the net and sign in and play via a browser.

Play with a bunch of friends online and for free, I bet it will be fun. Let’s wait for the release.

Check out Battlefield Heroes website now.

My room doesn’t has any LAN point or a telephone line port and because of this, I have no choice but to setup a wireless network at home. 3 years ago, I bought a Linksys 802.11b or known as wireless B router and adapter for my PC at home. It’s only for sharing and getting me connected to the Internet in my room. The Internet speed is good with it but then the connection always drop on the weak signal and I got no idea why I have to restart my router whenever it drops.

Soon, I bought a wireless G adapter hoping it can boost my receiver but then it failed on me. It still drops every few hours because of consistence connection with the router in the living room. After doing some research on the net, it’s believe that the router can’t handle that much connection and the receiver is a cheapo Asus USB receiver. I’ve not been able to get on to the Internet lately until I changes to a alternative solution and that is either getting a brand new wireless setup or a Power point-to-LAN point plug like the Homeplug or Powerplug.

Homeplug is way cheaper than getting a new wireless router and receiver, but then I can’t seems to find it anywhere in my place and so I had to dig out a little more money to invest in the wireless setup. ‘

Wireless G is an old technology although still popular, however I went for Wireless N which is the 802.11N wireless standard. This more to be mean that I am Mac-ready because all Mac have wireless N module in it except for the MacMini. Moreover, I can do file transfer between computers now, the speed is faster right now.

Linksys WMP300N Wireless-N PCI Adapter

I went for a PCI adapter instead of a USB one. Although, it’s only allow me to use on one PC, it gives me a better connection and does not uses my memory as USB does. Moreover, PCI is always faster and after so many days of using it, I got no connection drop. It’s always-on, always-connected and I get connected right away when I turn on my PC.

It looks like rocket , though it’s just the middle blue thing is the receiver, 3 cable is connected to the receiver and the back of the chassis. The cable quite short and I can’t place it high up, thus resulting in a weak signal. However, the weak signal did not affect the connection and I still get the maximum Internet speed and it shows 2 connection is connected to a network.

For around RM280 (85US$), the price is a little bit expensive but I got no other choice and I am not regret of getting this. If the cable is longer, it would be perfect.

Linksys WRT160N Wireless N Router

You don’t get a N receiver when you don’t have a router broadcasting N signal. I chose this WRT160N because mainly of the design. There’s actually another choice for me but after reading the review on the net, it seems to be a good one and the design is sleeker.

It has built-in range booster which is a good thing for my home as there’s a couple of wall between my room and the living room where the router is placed. There’s also a 4 LAN port, though there’s no need for me as I’m on wireless.

So far so good, no restarting on the router and I just leaved it in the living room.

Wireless N is said can reach a maximum speed of 270mbps, but then until now I only get 54mbps, still figuring out how to work on it, any ideas? Will it be it is broadcasting on G and N at the same time because my laptop doesn’t have a N connection.

Anyway, loving it and loving my Internet.

Last night, I can’t able to sign in to my Live Messenger, some International sites like YouTube, everything was going slow to me. I got into my router page and tried to reconnect the Internet, somehow I disconnected it and reconnect it over 10 times and I still get the same IP that starts with 118.xx.xx.xx.

Usually, based on the area I’m at, I’ll mostly get an IP that starts with 60.xx.xx.xx, when I’m lucky I’ll get something that starts with 218/219.xx.xx.xx which is known to be a good IP as that will be faster according to some forumers.

However, it’s 118 all the time from now on, is it a new IP from Streamyx because it’s the first time I’ve come across IP like this.

Wonder when only Streamyx Broadband service will be on par as Singapore/Hong Kong’s broadband provider?

Previously and all the time before my iPod touch was running on the first iPod touch firmware when it’s released many months ago, it was on 1.1.1. Actually at first it was 1.1.2 when I bought it, then only I downgrade it to 1.1.1 to do the jailbreak. iTouch or iPhone without any third party application is just as useless and uncool as shit. It’s only the apps that make them stand out.

Before that, Apple requires us to pay for 1.1.4 for Mail, Maps, Notes and Stocks app, it’s not third party, it’s official, I didn’t pay for it because I can get it on the jailbroken Installer.

Last month, at San Fransisco’s MacWorld Keynote, Steve Jobs announced the iPhone and iPod touch 2.0 firmware which allow users to download third party apps from the newly added App Store. When I heard third party apps, I was like “WOW, that’s great, there’s official licensed third party apps right now”. No more worrying about voided warranty.

For US$9.90, it’s pretty worth for it. I have bought it, upgraded and playing with many of the free apps now. There’s some that require you to pay, like games, utilities and more. I’ll see how’s the review about it only then I’ll buy it. $9.90 per game is quite expensive. Nevertheless paying for 2.0 upgrade is worth for it.

After placing Nuffnang ads on my sites for a year, I finally cashed out and received the cheque or check or whatever today in my letterbox. It’s not a big amount, but it’s enough to cover my webhosting payment. To be short and simple, Nuffnang is a local blog advertising company which helps you make a little money through blogging.

Some makes a lot, some makes a little, it depends on how good your blog traffic is. People tend to think that it only make a little money even though placing the ads for some times, it depends on how many readers a day.

My tips is to

be patience

forget about making money

just place it

keep writing your blog

make it interesting

increase your blog reader

and soon advertiser will come and buy the ad spcae on your blog. Then you will start making money like me. =)

I uses Nuffnang but not Advertlets because I also don’t know why, they pissed me off last time with super low earning and I don’t like.

Nuffnang Earnings : RM193 (approx 60US$)

The prediction that everyone made a few weeks back was pretty true as Apple just announced the new iPhone yesterday. For your information, 3G is not the biggest changes from the iPhone as the main attraction of the new iPhone is the freaking low price at 199$/299$/399$ for 8GB, 16GB and 32GB respectively.

3G is just an upgrade on the data transfer, sadly there’s no a front face camera for making video call. If you get an iPhone 3G, you probably must get an unlimited data plan for you because that is what a 3G iPhone for, web surfing on the go, push email etc etc.

Unfortunately, there’s still isn’t any good mobile data plan here in Malaysia yet. Celcom is the most recommended one at the moment but I am not a Celcom user. I uses Maxis and Digi. People are complaining about the connection keep dropping on Maxis 3G Broadband while DiGi still do not offers any high speed data plan yet. As I’ll just have to wait for DiGi to announced 3G connection and U Mobile (new telco in Malaysia) to come to Penang.

Too, it’s now added with A-GPS which allow you to track yourself on the built in Google Maps.

Likes:

Dislikes:

Not announced in Malaysia yet. Has to get from Singapore and maybe with Singtel contract.

No MMS

No video recording

No face front camera for video call

Low quality camera

In-store activation. Activate right away in-store.

Well, according to Steve during the Keynote, you can’t buy iPhone online in the states nor activate it yourself. All the activation is done in-store right away meaning that you will now have to sign up for the contract right away in Apple store, though those people out there sure got a way to avoid signing up for the contract when buying the iPhone right.

In Asia, it’s only Hong Kong and Japan that will get their first hand on the iPhone on July 11th while Singapore and other Asia Pacific country will be later this year. Sadly, there’s no Malaysia in the list. Oh my god!

Since it’s so cheap, it pretty worth to get one for yourself. As for me, I think I’ll be getting one as my secondary phone, I already have a phone that can do video call, getting this for my mobile entertainment and as a always connected device is good.

image of Engadget and Apple.
