BlackBerry Bold 9900 Malaysia Launch And Price Revealed – With the recent news about the soon-to-release of the new RIM BlackBerry Bold 9900 by DiGi and Maxis, Brightstar Malaysia, the official BlackBerry distributor has reveal secretly about the release date and pricing for the new mobile phone.

The phone will be release on 15 September 2011 and is available for pre-order at Mid Valley, priced at RM2188 (RRP). Why I said “reveal secretly” is because that Brightstar Malaysia has removed the image stating the price from the Facebook page after a while of posting it online. No reason why.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 Registration-Of-Interest Page By DiGi – With the recent news about the the RIM’s BlackBerry Bold 9900, a latest touch screen mobile device will be coming to Malaysia by Maxis, DiGi too, has launched their ROI (Registration-Of-Interest) page for this business device. So it means that two telco will be launching the phone soon, but there’s no exact release date.

Register yourself on the page and they will inform you the release date and pricing for it. A little info about the device is it’s packed with latest BlackBerry 7 OS, processing chip of 1.2GHz, 768 on-board RAM, combination of touch screen and QWERTY keyboard, as well as 5 megapixel camera that records HD video with flash.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 Is Coming To Malaysia By Maxis – Another new gadget is coming to Malaysia soon and it’s the RIM’s latest touch screen business device, the BlackBerry Bold 9900. It’d been 9 months since the launch of the previous BlackBerry Bold 9780 and this time, the new BlackBerry device is brought to you by telco Maxis.

It features a 2.8″ touch screen with BlackBerry’s specialty QWERTY keypad which aims at the business users. The bump from the previous Bold is having a 1.2GHz processor, 768 RAM and 8GB internal storage.

With a promising specs, however no pricing detail are available yet, as well as the exact launch date.

Well, there’s no reason to get a BlackBerry just for BBM because Apple now has their own iM(essage)! I guess it’s time to change from BB to iPhone people. What do you think?

DiGi just released some new BlackBerry plans for the postpaid and prepaid so that you can save some money if you are not really a heavy user. As so, you can now have more options of picking the suitable BlackBerry plan for you.

At the same time, they releases a new site @ whatberry.com.my which is a dedicated BlackBerry page made by DiGi. The site will guide you on which plan to choose and the available BlackBerry phones by DiGi.

There’s a new SmartPlan Lite which they categorized it as NoobBerry, a little bit insulting but cute at RM33+RM10 for BiS, though it’s limited to 300MB only.

As for Prepaid users, they are not limited to RM2/day anymore. The RM1/day is then separated into BusyBerry which includes Email and BBM mainly, whereas DramaBerry is for Social and BBM. They also added the RM0.50/day for BBM only which is now another telco choice besides Celcom Xpax which was the only telco that has this kind of plan.

With the new plans, I think more people and youth will go for BlackBerry because there are a hype of BlackBerry craze going on among the Malaysian youth. As for me, I still like to stick with my Android and I am not really a fan of Blackberry. Happy BBM!

I bought a BlackBerry Bold 9780 or also known as the Bold 3 to the BB fans out there for very cheap due to the promotion and contract by DiGi. Before this, I was so curious about the BlackBerry and keep on wondering why people here, especially KL people and Indonesian like BlackBerry so much. I always scratch my head and they influenced me.

So I finally got myself a BlackBerry, the latest device, an upgrade of BlackBerry 9700 and was released just recently. It’s something very cool, very sexy, the Boldness, especially the QWERTY keyboard. I really like QWERTY keyboard very much as it’s awesome.

With much anticipation, I switched my data card with BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) to the Bold and started BB-ing which turned up to be a disappointment to me. Now I will start ranting my dislike on the phone.

Perhaps I was on huge 3.7″ touchscreen Nexus One, switching to a small 2.5″ is not a favour. At first it’s OK, but as soon as coming to surfing the Internet, scrolling on the trackpad is getting difficult although it’s good.

Next, I tried the social media apps built inside the new OS6. Facebook is ugly when compare to a Android’s Facebook app. I didn’t try Twitter. The very famous UberTwitter is fun to tweet because it’s very fast but again the UI is ugly when compare to Twicca or TweetDeck on the Android. Foursquare is pretty much the same.

As for the application, to be honest there’s no fun application to play with like on the Android or iPhone. BlackBerry is just a plain emailing device. Don’t talk about the social media apps because it’s available on the iPhone and Android too. Nothing much special about it except the keyboard. Perhaps some people says that emailing on the BlackBerry is more secure, this maybe good to business people as the email run through their very own RIM server in Canada. If you are talking about Push Email service, Gmail app on the Android is just on par with the push service by BlackBerry.

BlackBerry is a device that need to use with the BIS, BlackBerry Internet Service. Without it, your phone is just a dumb phone which just can call and text. Even with a data plan, you can’t go onto the Internet, or WiFi, Internet is not available unless you have no SIM card in the phone. I feel it’s kinda ridiculous. I don’t really like it. And I need to add additional RM10 (3.5US$) on top of my data plan. Was thinking of using it as a texting phone but somehow other feature won’t work so I didn’t use already.

Then after using one day of data on it, I realised that my Nexus One is almost dead because many apps on the Android run through cloud service and requires data and I can’t afford a second data line. In the end, I switch back the data + BIS line to my Nexus One and stop using the BlackBerry.

This is an advice from me and personal opinion. I thought it was cool but after I tried it, it’s not. Perhaps you say you want to BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) with your friend, why not you use Kik, WhatsApp, Ping or GTalk? They are actually all the same thing. After using for a day, I don’t like it. It’s not a good phone. Stick with Android or iPhone, they are still better than BB.

Many BB-fans is going to dislike me but this is just what I am thinking about it. =) I sold my BlackBerry after then and back to Google Nexus One.

Don’t ask me why do I have a BlackBerry right now. I will talk about it in another post. But right now I want to give an advice to those want to sell their BlackBerry out for a better phone. Do not delete stuff like app, media and account one by one, but instead, wipe it to restore to factory default to be safer.

It’s very easy to do so.

1. Go to Options.
2. Select Security Options.
3. Then Security Wipe.
4. Check the items you want to wipe.
5. Type blackberry in the box.
6. Select Wipe.

RIM just launched their latest device, the Blackberry Torch here in Malaysia. My friend Yong Xiang who is one of the lucky one who have been selected by the Maxis 10 program to review the latest unit. On a meet-up, I was luckily to get hold on the phone for a couple minutes and take a few shots of the phone.

The new Blackberry Torch is running on 6 OS which is the latest OS developed by RIM. I am not a Blackberry user but this hands on makes me think that the Torch is a pretty cool device with combination of capacitive touch screen and QWERTY keyboard. The touch screen is pretty responsive and the keyboard feels the same though.

I give a thumbs up for the touch screen. Now Blackberry is not only confine by QWERTY keyboard but both.Featuring 5megapixel auto focus, it is now on par with other smartphone on the market.

By the way, do you realise that Blackberry is becoming a trend now in the Malaysian youth community?

If you do read the newspaper, I believe you guys have already knew about the new BlackBerry Bold smartphone is here in Malaysia. First it was Celcom’s advertisement and then it’s Maxis.

It’s not a phone for everyone. A lot of my friends doesn’t like a full QWERTY keyboard smartphone, they said it’s only for the businessman who check email very often. They are quite wrong actually, I would love to own a QWERTY keyboard phone if I am given a chance. Mainly, I do check my email on the go, and second is I text message a lot. With Digi’s Friends and Family, each text message or SMS is only 1cent. This kind of phone can do a lot of thing but not only email, you can surf the net if you have an unlimited data plan or you are near to an open free wifi spot. So, I want to say that, it’s not a phone just for email.

Blackberry Bold is a very powerful phone with nice design, high resolution screen, 2megapixel camera with 3G connection. Unfortunately, there’s not a front face camera for video call, so the 3G is only for data.

Maxis and Celcom are both selling at around RM2000 (600USD). I can’t recommend which telco to go for, but as far as I know, Celcom provides a more stable data connection than Maxis 3G.

I will not go for this phone as for the high price tag, alternatively, I might go for the Nokia E71 which is below RM2000 and has more feature but not so gorgeous screen and design.
