Fast Hands-On: HTC One X - I just tried the latest flagship device of HTC One X at the PIKOM PC Fair this afternoon, it’s gorgeous! This device sports a 4.7″ Gorilla Glass display with 720×1280 pixels, super fast 8-megapiel camera, 32GB storage, Quad Core Tegra processor and Android 4.0 ICS software.

Well, the phone is very sleek and has a nice design. Despite its big screen, it feels good on hand with the build quality. What I like and amazed the most is the huge 4.7-inch screen with 16M-color Super LCD 2 capacity touchscreen technology, it’s super sharp, in term of color and pixels. Frankly, the screen is even better than the iPhone’s Retina display. The camera is very fast as advertise with no load time. In term of speed, the quad-core processor do serve well with no lag, perhaps there’s no application installed on the phone which explain the smoothness, but then software technology is getting better on Android.

Overall, the HTC One X is currently the best Android smartphone at the moment, to me, it’s even better than the Sony Xperia S. Right now, I am looking forward for the Samsung Galaxy S3, to see how it’s gonna compete with the HTC One X.

ICS MiUI V4 on Samsung Galaxy S2 – MiUI is a custom ROM for the Android which emphasize on a simple and beautiful UI and it’s ‘Made In China’. Yesterday, I’ve finally upgraded my MiUI Gingerbread version to the latest MiUI V4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) version. I was reluctant to upgrade previously because that it’s not stable when it’s first release and there’s no DarkKnight custom kernel for it.

I full-wipe, clear cache, clear dalvik cache, and installed a clean version of it, then recover the backup from the Gingerbread version that I did before wiping. If you are on MIUI, you can Backup directly in the phone, or if you are coming from other ROM, you can use Titanium Backup to do backup.

The current version of ICS MiUI is stable now, and I am using Siyah kernel on my phone. Battery life is not as good as DarkKnight kernel. The UI is polished to be even better with the use of Roboto font and new Clock, Music & Gallery app.

Another thing I realised is it’s not as smooth as Gingerbread, I wonder is it rom problem or hardware problem, but everything is still acceptable and good. ICS features are all in and what I want now is a kernel with a better battery life. Check out more of the screenshot below.

Studious – Awesome Student Planner For Android – Why bring a planner for your school and class when you have an Android smartphone? Studious is a very cool student planner and notebook which allows you to setup class timetable, record notes with text and photos, record assignments and due dates as well remind you when homework and tests are due.

One cool feature is that you can have your phone automatically turn into silent/vibrate mode when you are in class with the Studious app.

The app is very user friendly and very clean. Best part of all, it’s free, but with ads at the bottom of the page.

KuGou – Free Music Download & Cool Music Player 酷狗 – KuGou is another cool Chinese app on the Android which allows you to listen to free music, download music, and also works as your phone’s music player. It’s all in one, search, download and listen.

In PC, I like to use KuWo to listen and download music, but on Android, I prefer KuGou because it’s faster and the interface is a lot nicer than KuWo’s. It’s fast and you have access to millions of song on the Internet. So, when you are out there, and suddenly think of a song, you can quickly search and download via KuGou.

Flickdroid – Batch Upload Photos To Flickr On Android – Flickr is my favourite online photo sharing and storage site. I often upload my photos to Flickr to share with friends and family. I realised that the Flickr For Android app does not allow batch upload, uploading photos one by one is a pain. Later then, I found an app – Flickdroid which allows me to upload photos to Flickr in batch. This is so much easier and faster.

AnyDo – Best Reminder & To-Do App On Android – Apple iPhone iOS 5 has a good reminder app, but then Android does not has a good built-in one. Well, you Android user out there can has a even better than iPhone’s reminder app and that is AnyDo. AnyDo is, I think the best reminder & to-do app on Android.

The UI is very sleek and beautiful. Simple to use and easy to add task. You can have two theme, white or black background and the font is big for easy reading. You also get a widget so that you will know what thing to do. Besides, you can just swipe over a complete task to delete it, or mark as completed. Another feature is that when you get a missed call, you will get a pop up from AnyDo asking you whether to add “Call Back to ___” into your to-do list. Cool right?

Action Snap Pro – Fun Android Camera App – Action Snap is a fun camera app on Android which allows you to capture action and movement. The app can capture images a few times, then combine into different collage to showcase the action. This app is very fun to use as you can ask your friend to pose differently for Action Snap to shoot.

Action Snap available in free and paid version, Action Snap Pro. The pro version supports front camera, flash light, digital zooms and no advertisement. Currently, I am using the Pro version downloaded from Blackmart.

Qvod Android – Watch Free Movies & TV Series On Android – Qvod user on the PC who also owns an Android phone can rejoice as Qvod is also available as a mobile application on Android too! For those who doesn’t know what Qvod is, Qvod is actually a media P2P (peer-2-peer) streaming software which streams movie, and tv shows (mostly Chinese).

Qvod is similar to Bit Torrent’s technology, but it’s faster because it is very famous among Chinese user. If you have an Android device, this is a good app for you to watch movie. Upon installing the app, you can search for the movie name in the in-app browser, then you just click play like how you do it on the PC. I just used it to watch Laughing Gor. =D

If you can connect your Android device to the TV, then it’s wonderful. I don’t recommend watching movie on a small mobile device.
