Today I want to introduce you guys a new messaging app that I have been using lately which is quite addictive and fun. It’s like WhatsApp on the mobile but instead of sending text, it sends voice. TalkBox is a voice messaging application for the iOS and Android device and it sends voice message. It has bubbled messaging system and works like a walkie-talkie because of it’s “Push to Talk” feature. Besides only sending voice message, you can also send photos too, at the same time sharing your location. The app finds your contact through Facebook account, you can also add other TalkBox user with your TalkBox user name too. Another great feature of it is the group chat which allow you to send your voice message to several friends. Android app just released few days ago and now iOS can now talk with Android. It’s fast and easy to use and truly recommend this app. Visit the site for more info.

Finally, I get to play some DVDs on the new Samsung DVD-1080PK player that I got recently. It’s a nice machine, sleek design with HDMI output and upscaling of DVD to full HD. Setting up the player is pretty easy, just a HDMI cable will do it all. Though, you might want to tweek with the sound output because you don’t want your sound to come out from the crappy TV speakers unless you got a HDMI amplifier at home. I connected the DVD player via HDMI cable to the TV, then I muted the sound on the TV. As for the sound output, I uses left and right channel to my Panasonic DVD Home Theater system. There’s actually output for rear, subwoofer and center speakers, I don’t really know where it connect to, speakers or an amplifier. But whatever it is, I can be sure it’s for providing a home cinematic experience. Although it’s not digital output, I manipulated the left and right channel output to a 5.1 Dolby Digital channel and it sounds good with the rear and all the speakers working. It’s just not as loud as DTS. For first usage, remember to change the display setting [...]

Although it’s not digital output, I manipulated the left and right channel output to a 5.1 Dolby Digital channel and it sounds good with the rear and all the speakers working. It’s just not as loud as DTS.

For first usage, remember to change the display setting to a 16:9 if you are on a widescreen TV, I bet most of you are already on a widescreen HDTV. Then video output should be always in Progressive Scan mode. When these are done, you are ready rock your DVD.

I was watching Traitor on this player with upscaling on. What I saw was the picture quality it’s just okay, not as good as a Bluray. When you go closer, you can actually see that the picture when pixelated or sharpen because of the upscaling. I’ve test on both machine, one with upscale and another without, there’s indeed a little bit difference. Pictures are sharper with a HDMI cable than component cable.

Though, there’s not much significant difference when watching a DVD on your comfy couch far from the TV. If it’s a Bluray player, then there will be because I’ve tried Bluray before and the quality was superb. Samsung should have send me a Bluray player instead. Haha.

Anyway, I do like this player in term of it’s HDMI output and design. The setup menu is a bit slow but that don’t really bother you a lot. There’s extra feature like CD ripping to flash drive and karaoke mic input which I haven’t tried yet, but the main feature of this is still watching DVD.

To improve this, make it a Bluray player. =)

I like phones, I like high end phones, I like stylish phones but the problem I don’t have the money to get one for myself. I spend my savings, little earnings on gadgets like iPods, camera accessories, hardware upgrade and others which made cell phones not so neccessary to me. My first phone was Nokia 3120, got stolen and after that I bought no cell phones. Brother gave it to me, as if it’s a second hand phone to me. Currently using a Samsung D500C and the Nokia 1680 Classic. At current moment, a new cellphone is in the top of my shopping/wish list. =) Let’s talk about the Nokia 1680 Classic which I just got it recently. Maxis, one of the telco in Malaysia gave it for free for subscribing to their postpaid plans. In fact, T-Mobile offers it for free too in the United States. Since it’s free, I’ll just use it, nothing lose on me. I need a second phone for texting, I text a lot, my previous Nokia 3100 went dead with no signal bar. Nokia 1680 Classic is quite a new phone though the specification and function is definitely not interesting. Though one cool thing [...]

Let’s talk about the Nokia 1680 Classic which I just got it recently.

Though one cool thing is, it’s the cheapest Nokia camera phone (VGA/0.3Megapixels). Design is sleek but hands on is very plastic, due to cheap built quality.

Nothing much I can do with the phone, I just use it for texting and some Twitter updates and Gmail checking. It lacks Bluetooth or Infrared for data transfer, so you can hardly transfer music, ringtone or photos to and out of the phone except using GPRS.

It might not be fast, lag sometimes while loading the message inbox. I’m using 1.6MB on Messaging as I have about 1.6k messages in my inbox. I am not gonna delete it. Haha. It’s about 7.6MB of on board memory, no memory card expansion, it’s for your pictures, contact and message.

Don’t expect much, this is a cheap, very low price, in fact free (by subscribtion) candybar camera phone by Nokia for those who want a temporarily phone.

Check out the package, it’s has a relatively small box with a small phone, a charger and a small manual. That’s all.
